Barcelona announced on its official website on Friday that the club has renewed the contract of its Spain international center midfielder wonderkid Gavi.
According to Barça's official statement, Gavi has signed on a new long-term five-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030. According to La Liga's regulations, Gavi's release clause will also rise to €1.2 billion.
In addition, according to the news brought by The Athletic's resident renowned Spanish transfer journalist Guillermo Rai, Gavi's new contract also includes a clause to automatically reject any offer from Saudi Pro League clubs. This clause was also added to his teammate Pedri's new contract within 12 hours.
About Gavi
Gavi, who is only 20 years old, was born on August 5, 2000 in Los Palacios and Villafranca, Andalusia, Spain. He is 1.73 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder. He can als play as an attacking midfielder.
Gavi joined the youth academy of non-league club La Liria at the age of 6, joined the Real Betis Laguna youth academy in 2013, moved to Barcelona's famous La Masia youth academy in 2015 and completed his Barcelona first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in August 2021.
Since becoming a member of the Blaugrana, Gavi has played 175 times for Barça in all competitions so far, scoring 131 goals and assisting 17 times, during which he has won the La Liga once and the Supercopa de España twice with the club.
