In the 19th round of the 2024-25 Premier League, Brighton drew 2-2 with Aston Villa, and coach Fabian Schurzeller praised the team's performance.
Simon Atingela scored early in the game to help Brighton open the scoring, but Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers scored to put Brighton ahead. Tariq Lamptey scored to equalize the score at the end of the game, and the game ended in a draw.
In the post-match interview, Schurzeller said: "I think we should have got more points. I think we are the better team. We completely dominated the first 20 to 25 minutes, but then we lost a penalty, and it shouldn't have been a penalty."
"We conceded two goals from set pieces, which were too easy, but overall we defended well. But sometimes, I was still immature. After the second goal, we struggled a bit and lacked enough intensity."
"But we did well enough in the last 30 to 35 minutes of the game and our reaction was very impressive. We played very well both offensively and defensively and we had a good chance to score the third goal."
When talking about Lamptey who equalized the score for the team, Schurzeller praised him and said: "Every time he plays, he performs very well. I am very happy that he scored a goal. More importantly for me, he did a great job on the defensive end."
The first half of the Premier League has already passed. Brighton has 27 points and ranks 10th, 8 points behind Chelsea, which is 4th. Brighton's next Premier League game will be on January 5, at home against Arsenal.
