Marcus Rashford has revealed why he chose to join Aston Villa on loan despite interest from Barcelona and AC Milan.
Marcus Rashford has finally ended his struggles at Old Trafford after being marginalised by Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. The England striker's loan will last until the end of the 2024-25 season, with Villa having the option to buy him out for £40 million this summer.
Since January this year, there have been constant rumors about Rashford's departure. AC Milan and Barcelona have tried to sign him, but in the end he decided to stay in the Premier League.
In an interview with Villa club media, the 27-year-old striker explained the reasons for his decision: "Villa is currently in a good position in the league and is striving for a higher ranking. At the same time, they are in the Champions League. They have an ambitious coach and a lot of excellent players in the team."
“I need to choose a place that suits my style of play, where I can help the team and also help myself get back into shape and improve. Even though it’s only a short-term loan, I hope to make the most of this time, and the only way to do that is to use my characteristics and skills to help the team succeed.”
As a Manchester United loanee, Rashford is expected to make his Villa debut in the FA Cup fourth round against Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday.
