Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has been loaned to Aston Villa until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Di Sasi moved to Chelsea from Monaco in August 2023, signing a six-year contract with a transfer fee of £38.5 million. This season, under the leadership of coach Enzo Maresca, Di Sasi has played 17 times for Chelsea.
Prior to joining Chelsea, Disasi had spells at Paris Football Club, Reims and Monaco. Disasi has made over 300 first-team appearances in his career and has played five times for the French national team, including the 2022 World Cup.
Tottenham were interested in Disasi earlier, but the negotiations between Chelsea and Tottenham have ended, and Aston Villa has become the club most likely to sign Disasi, and now the deal has been completed.
However, this loan agreement does not include a buyout or forced transfer clause. Aston Villa not only paid a loan fee of 5 million pounds, but will also bear all of Disasi's salary.
Now Chelsea has announced that Di Sasi will go to Aston Villa and play for Aston Villa for the rest of the 2024-25 season. Chelsea released a statement wishing Di Sasi well, writing: "We look forward to his performance during the loan period and cheer him on. Good luck, Axel!"
Disasi becomes Aston Villa's third deal in this transfer window. In the same transfer window, Aston Villa loaned Marcus Rashford from Manchester United and temporarily signed Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain.
