Robert Sanchez: The team will do everything in its power to keep a clean sheet and win the game.

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez leads the Premier League goalkeeper charts with the most clean sheets this season. With Aston Villa about to visit Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea goalkeeper spoke about the reasons for the team's solid defensive performance. So far in the 2025/26 season, Robert Sanchez has kept nine clean sheets in 17 league appearances, tied for first place with Arsenal's David Raya, and just shy of his record of 10 clean sheets set last season.  

Chelsea's number one goalkeeper has been in outstanding form recently, earning him the PFA Premier League Fans' Player of the Month award for November. However, Robert Sanchez also stated that the team's defensive success was not due to any single individual effort, but rather the result of teamwork.  

Robert Sanchez said, "Regardless of which four players make up the back line, I have established a good understanding with my teammates. We know each other's strengths and weaknesses and support each other to perform at our best. The team's defensive system is quite stable at the moment."  

"There is no doubt that we still have room for improvement, and we believe we can do our best. We will give our all in every game. As long as we keep a clean sheet, we can secure a point, and the leading team may indirectly help us get three points. Therefore, we must focus on defense, which will make the whole team play more smoothly."  

Having moved to England from Spain at the age of 15, Robert Sanchez is no stranger to the tight and busy holiday schedule of English football. With the team facing a series of matches against Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Manchester City, and Fulham, he detailed the key factors for maintaining good form and securing as many points as possible during the congested schedule.  

He stated, "We are currently in the peak of our mission, so the key is to get plenty of rest, manage our time effectively, and ensure that team members are rotated appropriately. Everyone has the opportunity to participate in different projects. When at home, spend more time with your family, enjoy the rare leisure time, and pay attention to your own health, ensuring you get enough rest."  

Chelsea currently faces an exceptionally tough challenge in the Premier League, while Aston Villa have won ten consecutive matches in all competitions and will be visiting Stamford Bridge. Despite the difficulty of containing the attacking prowess of players like Morgan Rodgers, Roberto Sanchez remains confident in his team and believes Chelsea can get off to a good start during this congested schedule.  

Robert Sanchez said: "Our opponents are a very strong team, and they have won ten games in a row. Of course, we want to end their winning streak, especially at home. We don't want any team to take points easily at our home ground. We have been in very good form in training this week, and the team will go all out to keep a clean sheet and try to win the game."
