Premier League – Odegaard scores as Arsenal beat Brighton 2-1.

The 18th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season continued with a key match, with Arsenal, playing at home, defeating Brighton 2-1 thanks to a goal from Ødegaard and an own goal from an opposing player.

Two minutes into the match, Arsenal launched an attack. Trossard chipped the ball to Dzekeresh, who controlled it and fired a shot from inside the box, but the angle was too central and the ball was easily caught by Brighton goalkeeper Fabrizio. In the 4th minute, Odegaard passed to Saka, who broke into the box and fired a low shot, but it was blocked.

In the 14th minute, Saka crossed from the right wing, and Ødegaard received the ball at the edge of the penalty area before unleashing a long-range shot that found the back of the net, giving Arsenal a 1-0 lead. In the 22nd minute, Trossard's cross was cleared, and Brighton players subsequently thwarted Arsenal's attacking opportunity.

In the 32nd minute, Ødegaard passed the ball diagonally, and Saka received it and unleashed a shot, but the ball was caught by Brighton goalkeeper Fabrizio. In the 36th minute, Rice received a cross from Trossard and shot, but his effort was blocked. In the 43rd minute, Arsenal launched a passing sequence, and Martin Zuwmendy's shot from the penalty area was saved by Fabrizio, followed by Trossard's follow-up shot, which went over the bar.

In the 49th minute of the second half, Brighton attempted a counter-attack. Mint broke through the defense and passed the ball to Diego Gomez, who pushed the ball forward, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya caught it.

In the 52nd minute, Rice took a corner kick, and Ruttel inadvertently headed the ball into his own net while attempting to clear it, giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead over Brighton. In the 85th minute, Saka dribbled the ball forward and crossed from the right wing, but Martinelli's low shot went high.

Arsenal ultimately defeated Brighton 2-1 at home. With this third consecutive win, Arsenal currently holds the top spot in the league table with 42 points.
