Ezri Konsa recounted the feeling of Aston Villa making history as they equaled the club's record of 11 consecutive wins, a feat dating back 111 years. The stunning 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge allowed Unai Emery's 2025 squad to match the club's winning streaks achieved in 1897 and 1914.
Aston Villa are currently on an eight-game winning streak in the Premier League, the longest winning streak in the top flight dating back to October to December 1910. Centre-back Ezri Konsa has expressed his hope that the team's winning streak will continue.
Ezri Konsa said: "Making history is always very special. I've been with the club for a long time, and it's a fantastic feeling to be a part of history. I hope this continues."
Ollie Watkins was the hero in West London's match. The second-half substitute scored twice to help Aston Villa secure the victory after Chelsea took the lead. This win also marked their ninth consecutive game with a one-goal advantage.
Ezri Konsa, reflecting on the victory against Chelsea, said: "Away games are never easy, and this was a very tough match. We struggled to play our best in the first half, and they caused us a lot of trouble. We had to be resilient defensively, and ultimately we conceded a goal."
“This season, when we were down by one or two goals, we didn’t get discouraged. We always maintained our belief, and I personally know the team’s strength on the field. The substitutes played very well and helped us a lot. In particular, Ollie Watkins scored two goals and played very well. I’m happy for him.”
