Matthäus Fernández: The team must maintain its belief and keep fighting; we will fight to the very end.

Following a 1-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest, Matthäus Fernández stated that West Ham United will fight to the death in their relegation battle. Despite failing to secure a win, the team briefly saw hope for their first victory since November. An own goal by Nottingham Forest defender Murillo in the 13th minute gave West Ham the lead in the first half.

Then, just six minutes into the second half, Cristiano Somerville scored the team's second goal with a brilliant half-volley. After the match, Matthäus Fernández admitted that the result was unacceptable. However, he emphasized that he and his teammates must demonstrate the necessary ability and mentality to ensure West Ham United's survival in the league before the end of the season.

After the match, Matthäus Fernández said: "Tonight's game was very tough, and we had discussed the importance of this match this week. Although the game is not over yet, we will fight to the last minute. We know the strength of the team and are full of confidence in ourselves. I think we played well in the first half, and although the second goal we scored in the second half was disallowed for offside, we still showed a very high level of competition."

"After that, the opponent scored from a set piece and a penalty, which is the cruelty of football. However, we will fight until the very last moment. We had a discussion in the first ten minutes of the second half and understood the importance of the second goal. Although the first attempt to score was ruled offside, we still tried again. The team needs to control the game better, but that will not be easy."

"The match was very tough because the opponent scored every opportunity, including from penalties. We know that football, like life, has wins and losses. When we lose, the team must maintain its belief and keep working hard. The most difficult moment is when you show that belief and do your best to win, but still fail to win. We prepared for this match for a whole week, but ultimately we still lost. The three points in the next match could completely change the situation."
