Celtic club officially confirmed that Kieran Tierney will return to the team in July 2025. The Scottish defender was linked with a return in the winter transfer window in January this year. Although it ultimately failed to materialize, coach Brendan Rodgers revealed last month that the two sides had reached a pre-contract agreement.
Celtic confirmed the news in its latest financial report released on Monday. The report reads: "In the January 2025 winter window, we signed Jota permanently and loaned Jeffrey Schlupp. In addition, we also renewed Kasper Schmeichel's contract and reached a pre-contract agreement with Kieran Tierney, who will return to Celtic in July 2025. At the same time, we sold the player registration rights of Kento Furuhashi and Alexander Bernaby, and loaned out Louis Palma, Odin Holm and Stephen Welsh."
Tierney came from the Celtic youth training system and joined Arsenal for a transfer fee of 25 million pounds in 2017. Prior to that, he played 170 games for the Celtic first team and won many honors including the Scottish Premier League championship.
After joining Arsenal, the Scottish international played 129 games for the Gunners, contributing 5 goals and 13 assists. However, injuries affected his career in North London and he was loaned to Real Sociedad this season. Now, the 27-year-old left-back is about to return to his childhood club and rewrite the glorious chapter of the Green and White Army.
