Postecoglu says negative criticism won't dampen his ambitions

The "Lily Whites" Tottenham Hotspur will host Frankfurt at home in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals in the 2024/25 season. Postecoglou said that negative criticism from the outside world will not weaken his ambitions and goals for the team, and urged the players not to use these negative voices as a motivation.

In the Europa League round of 16, Tottenham Hotspur eliminated Alkmaar with a total score of 3-2 and successfully advanced to the quarterfinals. In the earlier Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur defeated the newly promoted Southampton 3-1 with goals from Brennan Johnson and Matisse Tell.

However, Tottenham Hotspur has been strongly criticized by the outside world due to its unstable performance in the Premier League this season, and coach Postecoglou has also been criticized by many fans.

Currently Tottenham Hotspur ranks 14th in the Premier League standings with 37 points, so Tottenham Hotspur must win the Europa League to participate in European competitions next season.

"I just think we're in a situation where even if we do have some positive results it's going to be interpreted as a 'half empty' narrative," Tottenham manager Steve Postecoglou said. "That shouldn't be a source of motivation for us, and the players are really hungry to bring success to the club."

"Someone wrote that even if we win the Europa League, I'm destined to leave. I'm not targeting anyone in particular, but that's the general view. So if you want to use these voices as motivation, you're destined not to win."

Postecoglu stressed, "When I came to this club, I had a clear goal and vision, which was to change the way the team plays and revitalize the team. As long as I am in this position, I will focus on these goals. No matter what the outside voices are, no matter what happens in the future, these voices will not weaken my inner ambition and determination to achieve my goals."

"Almost everything you achieve in life has been accompanied by struggle, and all the professional achievements I have made in my life have been achieved through struggle. The current situation is also a new challenge, but during this struggle, I have never lost the will to fight for the right thing, and I will keep going."
