Shams: Jokic currently has no intention of leaving the team, and the Nuggets believe in his commitment.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Friday, Nikola Jokic currently has no intention of leaving the Denver Nuggets.

Jokic played 65 of 83 regular-season games this season, averaging 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 1.4 steals in 34.8 minutes per game, leading the Nuggets to the playoffs as the third seed in the Western Conference. He also averaged 25.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, 9.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in the playoffs, but the Nuggets were still defeated 4-2 by a depleted Minnesota Timberwolves team, failing to reach the semifinals.

After the game, Jokic could no longer hide his disappointment and frustration. At the press conference, he bluntly stated, "I'm very disappointed. We were eliminated in the first round, and I think we're a long way from winning the championship. Whether the team needs to make changes is not my decision. If this were in Serbia, we would all definitely be fired."

However, Jokic's desire to stay with the team seems quite firm. When asked about his contract extension plans, he replied without hesitation, "I still want to stay with the Nuggets forever."

The following day, Shams Charania reassured Nuggets fans during an appearance on "The Stephen A. Smith Show": "The Denver Nuggets have complete faith in Nikola Jokic's commitment. He wants to stay. Currently, he hasn't discussed leaving, hasn't looked for another team, and hasn't asked the team to make any changes. His attitude is very clear, both internally and externally: 'I'm here, I'm not going anywhere. I'll re-sign.' However, the Nuggets will have roster changes coming up."

According to multiple sources, Jokic will be eligible to sign a four-year contract extension this summer, worth approximately $278 million. He currently has two years remaining on his contract, with a player option worth $62.84 million for the 2027/28 season.

Since entering the NBA as a second-round pick in 2015, Jokic has played 11 seasons for the Denver Nuggets. Including this season, he has played a total of 810 regular season games, averaging 22.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.3 steals in 34.8 minutes per game. He has also won numerous individual honors, including 3 regular season MVP awards, 1 rebounding title, 1 assist title, 8 All-Star selections, and 5 All-NBA selections.

Jokic also played 100 playoff games for the Nuggets, averaging 27.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.2 steals in 38.4 minutes per game. In June 2023, he led the Nuggets to their first NBA championship in franchise history.
