Napoli officially announced on Tuesday that it has completed the contract extension with 27-year-old Uruguayan left-back Matías Oliveira. The two parties agreed to extend the contract, which was originally scheduled to expire in 2027, for three years until June 30, 2030.
Matías Oliveira came from the Montevideo National Youth Training and made his debut for the first team in the Uruguayan First Division Autumn League on February 13, 2016. He then played for Atenas, Getafe and Albacete, and moved to Naples for 16.5 million euros in July 2022.
So far, Oliveira has made 90 appearances in Naples, scoring 3 goals and providing 7 assists. He also won the 2022/23 Serie A championship with the team, during which he made 30 appearances, scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists.
According to Italian media reports, Oliveira's annual salary after the contract extension will increase from 1.5 million euros to more than 2 million euros. Napoli will continue to promote other contract extensions, including 27-year-old Italian goalkeeper Alex Meret and 29-year-old Cameroon midfielder Zambo Anguiza.
Meret's current contract with Anguiza will expire this summer. All signs indicate that Napoli and Meret's contract renewal negotiations are progressing smoothly and are expected to be signed by the end of March until 2027. As for Anguiza, contract renewal negotiations are expected to begin in the coming months. Given that his contract includes a two-year renewal option, Napoli is not in a hurry to move forward with this matter.
