Aston Villa beat 10-men Club Brugge 3-0 (aggregate score: 6-1) in the second leg of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League Round of 16s at Villa Park on Wednesday and advanced to the quarter-finals.
In the first half, Sabbe was sent off for maliciously bringing down Rashford, which laid a fatal foreshadowing for the direction of the outcome of the game. In the second half, Asensio volleyed and scored, and then Maatsen and Asensio both pushed the ball into the net from close range. Aston Villa quickly expanded its lead to 2-0!

Asensio quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his left foot at a very close distance in the box to double his goal tally in the match. Aston Villa secured the victory at 3-0! This is the fourth time that Marcus Rashford has provided assists for the former Real Madrid star in recent weeks!
