Dean Henderson: I'm excited about the new challenge and looking forward to the future

Dean Henderson is looking forward to a new chapter with England under new manager Thomas Tuchel. The goalkeeper has played for the Eagles in the Premier League this season and is one of four goalkeepers in Tuchel's first team.

"There was a lot of excitement around here, which is normal really," said Dean Henderson, who made his first England start earlier this season against Finland in October. "I was involved in a possession game, it was fast-paced, the standard was high and everyone was excited about what was going to happen."

"You would think with a new manager you would have to start all over again. But if you do your bit you will be rewarded. I came here with an optimistic attitude and full of anticipation for a new challenge and the future, and I am really looking forward to what it will bring me."

“I went into training camp with a different mindset, but I knew I needed to work hard, give it my best effort and hopefully make an impression.”

“We can only control what we can control, which is this training camp and winning the games in front of us. With the new manager in place, our only target is to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We don’t have many training days until then, so we have to make the most of the time we have.”

Dean Henderson also talked about Jordan Pickford. He said: "Jordan Pickford took over the team when the team changed, and he successfully seized the opportunity. His performance was very good, and it's all credit to him. He really did a great job."

"If you come into the camp you have to be the best team-mate he can be to make sure Jordan Pickford does well. You have to be patient and wait for your chance, don't give up easily and keep working towards your goal and everything will come."

"I think all the goalkeepers come to the camp and they all want to play, it's no secret. We all train together, everyone helps each other and everything on the pitch is professional. It all depends on what the manager wants and what the manager decides, you have to follow and support him."
