Fulham comeback win over Liverpool: Marco Silva praises team for strong attitude

With goals from Sessegnon, Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz, Fulham defeated Liverpool 3-2 in the 31st round of the 2024/25 Premier League. Marco Silva said that the players showed great commitment and attitude from the first minute of the game, and also called on the team to maintain their best condition to cope with the remaining difficult games.

In the 14th minute, McAllister received a pass from Gravenberch and scored from the top of the penalty area, helping Liverpool take the lead 1-0. In the 23rd minute, Pereira's cross was cleared by Jones, and Sessegnon scored after receiving the ball, helping Fulham to tie the score 1-1.

In the 32nd minute, Liverpool defender Robertson made a mistake, and Iwobi got the ball and shot from the penalty area to help Fulham overtake 2-1. Five minutes later, Fulham's corner kick was cleared, and Rodrigo Muniz received Iwobi's pass and broke through the defense to shoot, helping Fulham expand their lead to 3-1.

In the 72nd minute of the second half, Connor Bradley assisted Diaz to score, helping Liverpool to equalize the score 2-3. In the end, Fulham defeated Liverpool 3-2 at home.

Fulham manager Marco Silva said, “These are great three points for us and I really believe we deserve this victory. We played very well in all aspects in the first half. McAllister's goal was wonderful, but we also responded well. We knew when we were preparing that this was a game that required high energy and rhythm, and we did a good job in pressing. We found the opportunity to suppress almost every time, while keeping the defense compact and avoiding creating too much space for the opponent, which is their best area.”

“The players showed great commitment and attitude from the first minute. We had shots from the start, which showed that this game was not just about us playing compactly but about playing our style. We played very well in the first half and took a good lead, but we also knew that there were still 50 to 55 minutes to play.”

Fulham is currently ranked 8th in the standings with 48 points, and has won 3 and lost 2 in the past 5 games. In the next round of the league, Fulham will go away to challenge Bournemouth.

Marco Silva continued, "Even though the opponent scored in the second half, we still controlled the game. They did have one or two good chances afterwards, but we also had a good chance through Harrison Reid. If we want to continue this performance until the end of the season, we must work very hard."

"The competition in the Premier League is extremely fierce and we must always stay focused and take care of ourselves. In the next two months, we must go all out and the next game against Bournemouth will also be difficult and we must be fully prepared."
