Bournemouth released a statement on Tuesday confirming that they have completed the contract extension with Antoine Semino. The new contract extends the original framework by one year and is valid until June 30, 2030.
Regarding the contract extension, Thiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s president of football operations, said: “Antoine has been crucial to the club’s development and is a key player in our project. We have always maintained a good relationship with Antoine and hope to continue to work together on the basis of the record-breaking season. His efforts are highly consistent with the club’s ambitions and I am very much looking forward to the team making greater breakthroughs in the new season.”
The 25-year-old Semino started out at Bristol City's youth academy and was loaned out to Beth City, Newport County and Sunderland in the early stages of his career. He has gradually gained a foothold in Bristol City since 2020, contributing 21 goals and 21 assists in 125 games in all competitions.
In January 2023, Semino transferred to Bournemouth for 10 million pounds. He mainly plays as a right winger in Bournemouth, but can also play as a left winger, right midfielder, left midfielder, center forward and other positions.
So far, Semino has played 89 times for Bournemouth, scoring 22 goals and providing 10 assists. With his help, Bournemouth finally ranked ninth in the Premier League with a record 56 points last season.
With his outstanding performance at the club level, Semino once became the target of Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and other clubs this summer. However, Semino finally chose to continue playing for Bournemouth. He said in a statement: "My growth in the club has been very significant both on and off the court. I am very happy to have completed the contract extension before the start of the pre-season."
“From the fans, staff to my teammates, I have been so impressed with everyone at the club. Bournemouth is a fantastic place to be and I can’t wait to get back to training ahead of the new season.”
