Joao Pedro confirms joining Chelsea wearing No.20

Chelsea officially announced that 23-year-old Brazilian striker Joao Pedro has officially transferred from Brighton to join the team and will wear the No. 20 jersey to compete in the new season.

After completing the transfer, Pedro will immediately start training to prepare for the upcoming Club World Cup quarter-final against South American powerhouse Palmeiras.

In an interview, Pedro said: "When you join Chelsea, you can only think about one thing, that is to win trophies. No matter which competition you participate in, you must have this goal. I play for Chelsea. This is my ambition."

Pedro stressed that the Club World Cup is a high-pressure knockout tournament that does not allow for any slackness: "I must be fully prepared, because losing a game means being eliminated. I will use these few days to adjust my condition and help the team as much as possible."

Pedro also showed respect and caution for the upcoming match against Palmeiras: "No one will underestimate Palmeiras. South American teams have always been strong in this tournament. Our entire team is looking forward to this challenge and will make sure we are fully prepared."

Chelsea will complete their final session at their training base in Miami, USA, which will be live streamed on the Chelsea website and official app before returning to Philadelphia, where head coach Enzo Maresca will hold a pre-match press conference.

Chelsea will face Palmeiras on July 5 and if they win they will advance to the semi-finals of the Club World Cup. Pedro is also expected to make his Chelsea debut in this campaign.
