Wildcard announces they are dropping their Dota 2 roster

In the personnel reshuffle after the 2025 International Invitational (TI), North American powerhouse Wildcard suddenly announced the disbanding of its Dota 2 team.
Although the team performed well last season, even breaking Shopify Rebellion's long-term dominance and winning the only TI ticket in North America, this decision came as a surprise to the outside world.
Wildcard originally entered Dota 2 in 2022, but withdrew from the scene after the DPC was suspended. In January of this year, they returned to the stage by signing the Apex Genesis roster. The team, with a lineup of emerging players, gradually rose to prominence and eventually stood out in the North American region, making their first appearance on the TI stage.
Wildcard performed well in the group stage, finishing higher than BOOM Esports, Team Nemesis, and Natus Vincere. Although they lost to season powerhouse PARIVISION in the knockout stage, finishing in 9th-13th place, their performance was enough to demonstrate their strength and potential.
It was widely believed that with Shopify Rebellion's departure, Wildcard would become the lone top force in North America. However, the organization suddenly decided to part ways with the team. The team had previously participated in the new season qualifiers under the name Wildcard and had already secured a spot in DreamLeague Season 27.
Wildcard has yet to clarify their future plans, and whether they will remain in Dota 2 or leave the game entirely remains uncertain. Fortunately, the team has not disbanded. Former manager stresspresso stated that the players will continue to play together and revert to their original name, Apex Genesis. Apex Genesis has registered for PGL Wallachia Season 6 and DreamLeague Season 27.
