Yao returns to Dota 2 to coach Team Tidebound's new roster

After losing at The International 2025 (TI 2025), the Chinese team Team Tidebound announced a major roster adjustment. The most anticipated news was that veteran Yao returned to the mainstream Dota 2 arena after four years and officially joined the team as coach.

Yao is a legend in Chinese Dota 2. He played for LGD Gaming and competed in numerous international tournaments, renowned for his steady leadership and unique tactical vision. Although he never won a TI, his role in the development of Chinese Dota 2 remains crucial, and he is considered a key figure in the golden generation.

Team Tidebound underperformed at The International 2025, finishing only seventh or eighth. After the tournament, veteran players including bLink and Bach left the team. In a statement, Team Tidebound thanked them for their contributions and announced they would be starting with a completely new roster.

Yao last appeared in a major tournament in 2021, while playing for EHOME. He then briefly coached the secondary team, Tearlaments, before officially returning.
