On December 25, Chinese esports club Team Tidebound officially announced its withdrawal from the professional Dota 2 esports scene and entered an inactive state immediately.
In their official statement, Team Tidebound stated that the decision was made after thorough and careful internal discussions within the management team. The club indicated that the current talent environment in the Chinese region, as well as considerations for their long-term development, were key reasons that led them to choose to withdraw.
Despite their short history, Team Tidebound has quickly distinguished itself in the highly competitive CN Dota scene. The team performed exceptionally well in the DreamLeague Season 25 China Open Qualifier, winning multiple qualifier matches and securing spots in international tournaments such as PGL Wallachia Season 3 and ESL One Raleigh 2025.
The team's peak came at Clavision Masters 2025 Snow Ruyi, where they won the championship, and then finished as runners-up at the 2025 Asia Championship League. Furthermore, Team Tidebound qualified for The International 2025 (TI 2025) in Hamburg and made it to the playoffs.
In terms of roster, Team Tidebound has assembled several heavyweight Chinese Dota 2 players, including y`, the TI 2016 and Riyadh Masters 2022 champion, and Faith_bian. In their farewell statement, the club expressed high respect for the players and coaching staff, thanking them for their hard work along the way.
With the team disbanding, most of the players have confirmed their new destinations. y`, planet, and shiro have joined Vici Gaming, while NothingToSay has transferred to Xtreme Gaming. Both teams are expected to compete in ESL Challenger China at the end of January. Faith_bian's next destination has not yet been announced.
