Eddie Howe: Returning to Wembley means a lot to us

In the second round of the Carabao Cup semi-finals, Newcastle United defeated Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate and successfully advanced to the Carabao Cup final. Coach Eddie Howe was happy about this.

Originally Newcastle United led 2-0 in the first round of the match, but in the second round Newcastle United chose to defend and protect their advantage. In the post-match interview, Howe said: "We are facing top players, and one mistake may make the situation difficult."

"We have to stay ourselves and be proactive. The experience in the Champions League really helped us a lot because it allowed us to adapt to the rhythm of playing every two days. We can adapt our tactics according to the opponent and you could see the change in our performance today."

Howe led Newcastle United to the Carabao Cup final two years ago, but they failed to win the title. Newcastle United's wait for a major trophy continues, now 70 years later.

"It's a big deal to be back at Wembley," Howe said. "It was a bit unexpected to be in the final for the first time, but to be the club we want to be we have to be there regularly so this result is not surprising."

"We got to the final on merit. It wasn't an easy road this year. We faced four Premier League teams, so it was a hard fight. Hopefully we can learn from the experience last time and improve our performance."
