Sentinels will enter the Counter Strike 2 esports scene if the club's League of Legends team successfully qualifies for the World Championship..

Prominent Turkish-American former Counter Strike esports player and Sentinels streamer, Tarik, unexpectedly announced on his official X (Twitter) account on Tuesday that if the club's League of Legends team successfully qualifies for the World Championship this year, they will enter the CS2 esports scene.

Tarik's statement immediately excited many fans, but Dust2 stated that it is currently impossible to confirm the veracity of his claim.

Regardless, Tarik's statement confirms Sentinels CEO Rob Moore's statement in a July 2025 interview with Sheep Esports that he intended to bring the club to the CS2 esports scene this year or in 2027.

However, for Tarik's bold claim to come true, Sentinels must face and overcome significant challenges.

The team must deliver a near-perfect performance in this year's LCS Summer Split to have any hope of achieving this dream.

Only with such a strong performance will they have a chance to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship. 

Sentinels last participated in a professional League of Legends esports tournament in 2017 with their team name known as Phoenix1 at the time.

During that time, Phoenix1 achieved a top-3 finish in the LCS Spring Split.

Tarik, 29 years old, was born on February 18, 1996, in New York City, USA. He holds dual US and Turkish citizenship and was a professional Counter Strike esports player from 2014 to 2019, playing as an entry fragger.

Tarik has played for Counter Logic Gaming (CLG), OpTic, Cloud9 (C9), MIBR, NRG, and Evil Geniuses (EG) throughout his professional career.

He has won numerous top-tier tournaments, including ELEAGUE Season 2, the 2019 ZOTAC Cup Masters, and the 2019 ESL ONE New York.

He also won the 2018 ELEAGUE Major in Boston and was named MVP.

After retiring, Tarik transitioned into a streamer, primarily providing commentary for League of Legends and Valorant.
