Ten Hag: Not considering returning to coaching this season, or turning to family business

Erik ten Hag said on Tuesday that he is not considering a return to coaching before the end of the season.

The 55-year-old Erik ten Hag has led Ajax to win three Eredivisie titles, two Dutch Cups and one Dutch Super Cup, and is regarded as one of the best local coaches in the Netherlands. He officially took over Manchester United in July 2022, and in the following two years he led the team to win one FA Cup and one English League Cup, with a total record of 72 wins, 20 draws and 36 losses.

Ten Hag was fired by Manchester United in October 2024 due to poor performance. As for his future, the Dutchman said on the podcast "SEG Stories" under his economic company SEG: "I have decided not to take any work before July 1, until the start of the new season."

Ten Hag also hinted that he is not the only option to continue working in football: "I can do many other things. Maybe as a new coach in football, this is an option. It is also possible to choose a completely different direction."

He added: "I've been working with my brothers lately and we have our own company. More accurately, they have their own company. I also help run my dad's company and I can focus more on that now and it's something I really enjoy doing and it's a lot of fun."

The Ten Hag family is one of the richest families in the Netherlands thanks to their successful real estate company, which was founded by Ten Hag's father Henni in 1967 and is still going strong. The family also owns several financial companies, which are run by his brothers Michel and Rico.
