Newcastle United defeats West Ham United with a 0-1 away win on matchday 28 of the 2024/25 Premier League season at the London Stadium on Monday.

In the first half, Souček's close-range volley skied out of the pitch, and Areola made two great saves. In the second half, Fabian Schär brought down Kudus in the box and almost gave away a penalty, Kilman almost scored an own goal, and Guimarães shoveled the ball into the net from close range. Later, Guimarães pushed Bowen in the box and controversially escaped any sanction. In the end, Newcastle United defeats West Ham United with a 0-1 away win. After this round of games, the Hammers are temporarily 16th on the table with 33 points; the Magpies temporarily moved up to 6th place with 47 points.

First Half

Just 50 seconds after the start of the match, Mohammed Kudus crossed into the box from the edge of the byline on the left wing. Tomáš Souček quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from a very close distancein the box, but his shot skied high out of the pitch. West Ham United missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock early!

In the 5th minute, Jarrod Bowen crossed into the box from the edge of the byline on the right wing. The ball was initially blocked off not far away by Dan Burn, and then blocked by Edson Álvarez, before it sailed just slightly wide of the right side of the post. 15 minutes later, Tino Livramento crossed from the left side of the box. Kieran Trippier quickly followed up and stopped the ball before taking a long shot from outside the penalty area with his right foot. The ball was initially blocked off not far away by Aaron Cresswell. After quickly following up and picking up the loose ball, Harvey Barnes pushed the ball with his right foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was spectacularly saved by Alphonse Areola.

Burn passed the ball with his header before Barnes rose high and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort was saved bravely saved by Alphonse Areola.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 48th minute, when Mohamed Kudus quickly followed up and intercepted the ball in the box, he was brought down down by Schär who came forward to press him. In the 70th minute, Lucas Paquetá made an overhead diagonal pass from the right wing. After beating the offside trap, Jarrod Bowen quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box before he was maliciously pushed down by Guimarães who came forward to press. The referee team refused to respond again! Newcastle United once again controversially escaped any sanction!
