Palinha: I have no intention of leaving Bayern Munich and will win recognition with practical actions

Joao Palinea said on Wednesday he has no intention of leaving Bayern Munich this summer.

Joao Paline, 29, was born in Lisbon, Portugal. He mainly plays as a defensive midfielder. He has played for Sporting Lisbon, Moreirense, Belenense, Braga, Fulham and other teams. In July 2024, he joined Bayern Munich from Fulham for 51 million euros.

However, Palinha's first season at Bayern was not smooth. So far, he has only played 19 times for Bayern, including 7 as a substitute in the Bundesliga and 3 as a substitute in the Champions League. To make matters worse, Palinha was sent off in the first two Bundesliga games against Bochum, playing only 42 minutes in total.

German media pointed out that the change in Bayern's tactical system was the key reason for Palinha's limited appearances: former Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel had advocated signing Palinha, but current coach Vincent Kompany prefers to use a technical midfielder. The change of coaches led to a rapid decline in Palinha's tactical position and he was listed as a potential target for sale.

Despite this, Palinha is still confident about his future at Bayern. In an interview with Bild, he said: "I am not interested in the rumors of leaving the team. I will do my best to prove that I am worthy of the club's investment. I have never thought about leaving!" However, he also added: "I will do my job well, and other things are not under my control."

Palinha went on to say that he would follow the example of teammates such as Goretzka and prove himself with practical actions: "There are quite a few similar examples in our team. Last season, almost everyone criticized some of our players, such as Leon Goretzka, Dayo Upamecano and Alphonso Davies. Their experiences are similar to my current situation. I just want to prove my ability."
