The Athletic exclusively reported on Thursday that former Manchester United England left-back Brandon Williams was found guilty of dangerous driving and may face prison term.

According to the report, Williams was summoned by the British Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to the Cheshire Crown Court of Justice last Sunday to stand trial for his dangerous driving charges.

During the trial, the prosecutor accused Williams of being reported in 2023 for driving his Audi A3 at a speed of 159 kilometers per hour on the A34 in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England, while inhaling helium from a balloon, causing his car to lose control and collide with a moving Ford Fiesta, and then crash into the central reservation on the side of the road.

Since the maximum speed of the highway section is 113 kilometers per hour, Williams' speed at the time was far beyond the speed limit, which constiutes dangerous driving.

In addition, the female owner of the Ford Fiesta also suffered a head injury in the car accident, and she also recorded Williams' criminal evidence, thus his crime of dangerous driving causing injury to others is an ironclad fact.

It is reported that after listening to the charges, Williams has pleaded guilty in court, and the judge will issue a final verdict to the player on May 29, 2025.

As the charges were found, Williams is expected to face a two-year prison sentence in accordance with the UK Road Traffic Act.

After the report was released, BBC reporter contacted Andrew Madden, the prosecutor in charge of the case.

Madden said that the incident occurred in March 2023, and the police arrested and detained Williams soon after receiving the victim's report.

At the time, the police arrested Williams on the charge of "disorderly behaviour, dangerous driving causing injury to others" and conducted a breathalyzer test with him, and the test result was negative.

However, considering that his car was completely damaged in the car accident, and even so many drivers' lives on the road were threatened, the prosecution and the police agreed that Williams' crime was too serious and must be severely punished.
