LGC Legend Cup S3 will start on April 17, introducing the dual-division confrontation mode for the first time

On April 3rd, local time, the LGC Legend Cup officially announced the complete schedule and competition system of S3. This year's event invited 80 former professional players and current veterans to participate, and for the first time introduced the dual-district confrontation mode of "Eagle Division" (China) and "Tiger Division" (Korea).

The LGC Legend Cup was first held by Huya Live in June 2024, and it is now in its third session. This Legend Cup will be divided into two camps, the "Eagle Division" and the "Tiger Division", including four stages: group stage, knockout stage, loser group finals/finals and China-Korea confrontation: the group stage is scheduled to be held from April 7 to 30, 2025, and the Eagle Division and the Tiger Division will each adopt a BO3 single round-robin system; the knockout stage will be scheduled from May 1 to 9, 2025, and each division will adopt a BO5 double elimination system. From May 10 to 11, 2025, the loser group finals and the finals will be held in the form of offline duels. In the end, the top three in each division will form a representative team to set off for the China-Korea confrontation on May 17.

According to the official announcement, the total prize pool for this tournament is 3 million yuan, including 1.2 million yuan for the Tiger Division and 800,000 yuan for the Eagle Division.

In order to enhance the strategic depth and viewing experience of the tournament, this year's Legend introduced a number of innovative mechanisms: first, the double helix BP mechanism, which requires participating teams to alternate between the ban and pick stages and the hero selection stages; second, the match point blind pick mode, which requires players in key games to blindly select heroes without seeing the opponent's lineup; and finally, the lane change detection mechanism, which strictly prohibits the use of traditional lane change tactics, prompting each team to develop a new tactical system.

This year's Legend Cup also added a player transfer process, which is divided into three steps: the captains of each team must submit a transfer application to the organizing committee before midnight on April 7, and the application will be announced through the live broadcast room and Weibo for 48 hours from midnight on April 7 to 9. The audience and the jury can vote on whether the transfer is effective through the designated platform, and only players who have completed all the processes can officially transfer.
