Alban De Chelot, CEO of European e-sports club G2, issued a statement announcing that Ilya Osipov (ID: m0NESY), a member of the "Counter-Strike 2" division, has officially left the team.
m0NESY, 19 years old, is a Russian CS 2 professional player who mainly plays as a sniper. He joined the G2 team in January 2022. So far, he has played in 519 maps, 12,529 rounds, and has 9,732 kills with an average rating of 1.23. He won the 2022 BLAST World Finals, the 2023 IEM Katowice, the 2023 IEM Cologne, the 2024 IEM Dallas, the 2024 BLAST Fall Finals and the 2024 BLAST World Finals.
Recently, there have been rumors that m0NESY will transfer to the Falcons team after the end of the PGL Bucharest. In this regard, Alban De Chelot confirmed in a statement: "The rumors are true. We have decided to accept the deal for our young CS talent. I can only ask you to give your feedback directly to me, not to the management, coaches or players of the CS department - because this is an organizational decision."
"Ilya's contract will expire in December this year. We decided to maximize the chances of rebuilding the future lineup through this transaction instead of hoping for a last-minute turnaround."
"I am very sad to see Elijah leave the team, but I sincerely wish him all the best and thank him for the countless magical moments he brought us. G2 never won a CS trophy under the leadership of the previous management, but finally won six championships in the past two years, including Cologne and Katowice."
"Due to the uncertainty of his future, he gradually became estranged from the team. Under such circumstances, it is difficult for us to have substantive communication with potential new stars. Now that the decision has been made, we will go all out to compete in the remaining three events of this season while advancing preparations for next season."
“G2 is one of the few organizations in the world that can compete at the highest level across all AAA titles, including League of Legends, Valorant, and Counter-Strike. We have a tradition of building rosters and developing star players, and we are not afraid to restart and rebuild if we fail to meet our usual high standards.”
"CS is no exception," De Chelot concluded. "Although parting is always difficult and even painful, we still look forward to the new lineup to fully unleash its potential. We are warriors, not because we never fail, but because we can always stand up again."
After losing the final of PGL Bucharest, m0NESY himself also made a farewell speech on social media. He wrote: "Sorry, there are not many words. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and G2. This experience has made me stronger. Some people will remain in my memory forever. This team was my home. Thank you for everything you have given me."
“The story ends here, but the chapter in my heart never ends.”
