Champions League - Leo scores as AC Milan beat Girona 1-0

The seventh round of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League staged another focus battle. AC Milan, at the San Siro Stadium, defeated Girona 1-0 after Leo scored.

Three minutes into the game, AC Milan defender Emerson Royal was injured while trying to grab the ball and was replaced by Calabria after he could not hold on. In the fifth minute, Girona organized an attacking opportunity. Herrera jumped up in the penalty area and headed the ball, but the ball went wide of the post.

In the 10th minute, AC Milan got a free kick. Reinders chose to shoot directly when he took the penalty. The Girona goalkeeper fell to the ground and blocked the ball. In the 13th minute, AC Milan continued to attack. Pavlovic took a few steps outside the penalty area and took a long shot, but the ball went wide of the goal.

In the 24th minute, Leo received a through ball from Reinders and passed the ball back to Theo, who was unguarded, and shot the ball but it hit the post. In the 31st minute, Girona tried to counterattack. Van de Beek received a through ball from his teammate and passed the defense to shoot, but the ball was caught by AC Milan goalkeeper Maignan.

In the 37th minute, Bennacer seized the ball and made a straight pass. Leo got the ball from the penalty area and shot past the defense to score, helping AC Milan take the lead 1-0.

AC Milan started to attack at the beginning of the second half. Leo shot directly after receiving the ball, but the ball was caught by the Girona goalkeeper because the angle of the shot was too straight. In the 57th minute, Brian Hill received a pass from his teammate and shot the ball into the goal, but the goal was ruled invalid because of offside.

In the 75th minute, AC Milan replaced Bennacer and Reinders with Pulisic and Terraciano. In the 77th minute, Moussa broke through the defense and passed the ball back from the penalty area. Abraham immediately stepped forward and volleyed, but the ball was saved by the Girona goalkeeper.

In the 90th minute, Girona continued to counterattack. Asprilla outside the penalty area received a cross from his teammate and took a long shot, but he kicked the ball high.

In the end, AC Milan defeated Girona 1-0 at home. After winning five consecutive games, AC Milan is currently ranked sixth in the standings with 15 points.
