Durant is only 26 points away from 30,000 points and will become the eighth person in NBA history

February 5th , Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is only 26 points away from the 30,000- point mark in his career . He is expected to reach this milestone in the next game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and become the eighth player in NBA history to score more than 30,000 points. Currently, only seven players in the league's history have achieved this achievement, and among active players, only LeBron James has entered the 30,000- point club .

In today's NBA regular season game, the Suns lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 119-121. Although the team failed to win, Durant still showed his efficient scoring ability. In the whole game, he played for 45 minutes and 50 seconds, shot 10 of 21 shots, 2 of 9 three-pointers, 5 of 6 free throws, and scored 27 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks. With his outstanding performance in this game, his career total score officially reached 29,974 points, only 26 points away from the milestone of 30,000 points.

The Suns' next game will be on February 6, Beijing time, against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It is worth mentioning that the Thunder is the first team Durant played for in his career. He was selected by the Thunder (formerly the Seattle SuperSonics) as the second pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and played for the team for 9 seasons. If Durant can break 30,000 points in this game, he will write a new chapter in his career at his former home court, which will undoubtedly make this game more memorable.

In NBA history, only seven players have reached the 30,000-point milestone. They are:

  1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ( 38,387 points)

  2. LeBron James ( 38,390+ points, still breaking records)

  3. Karl Malone ( 36,928 points)

  4. Kobe Bryant ( 33,643 points)

  5. Michael Jordan ( 32,292 points)

  6. Dirk Nowitzki ( 31,560 points)

  7. Wilt Chamberlain ( 31,419 points)

If Durant can accomplish this feat in the next game, he will become the eighth player in NBA history and the fourth player currently active or retired and still playing in this century to enter the 30,000-point club.

Durant has shown his outstanding scoring talent since entering the NBA. As early as the age of 21, he won the NBA scoring title with an average of 30.1 points per game, and won this honor four times in the next five years. As one of the most talented scorers of the contemporary era, Durant not only has an excellent height (2.08 meters), but also has extremely smooth ball-handling offense and shooting skills, allowing him to easily score in any situation. This season, the 36-year-old Durant still maintains an efficient performance, averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, and is still the core of the Suns' offensive system.
