Molde officially announce the signing of Liverpool's Ireland U19s international forward wonderkid Trent Koné-Doherty..

Molde announced on their official website on Friday that they have signed Ireland U19s international forward wonderkid Trent Koné-Doherty from Liverpool.

According to Molde's official statement, Koné-Doherty has signed on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club which runs until the summer of 2029. He will also wear the number 24 shirt.

Furthermore, according to the Liverpool ECHO's resident renowned English Liverpool team correspondent Paul Gorst, the Norwegian Eliteserien powerhouse paid Liverpool £750,000 to sign Koné-Doherty.

Liverpool retains a 25% sell-on clause, a buy-back clause, and the right to reject other offers for the player.

Gorst added that Koné-Doherty left Anfield with the best wishes of Liverpool, seeking more first-team opportunities due to the emergence of players like Rio Ngumoha, Kieran Morrison, Jayden Danns, and 15-year-old prodigy Joshua Abe.

If his future development goes well, he, like his former teammate Ben Gannon Doak who is currently playing for Bournemouth, may one day return to Anfield.

After completing his transfer, in his first interview with Molde's official website, Koné-Doherty said: "I'm very happy to be here. This is the perfect club for me. I love the project this place offers, and I'm very excited to start working."

"I'm a player who likes to make the fans go crazy. I always try to show myself on the pitch and I'm fearless."

About Trent Koné-Doherty

Koné-Doherty, who is only still 19-year-old, was born on June 30, 2006, in Derry, Northern Ireland. He is 1.73 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play as a right winger and attacking midfielder. He holds British, Irish, and Ivorian citizenship.

Koné-Doherty joined the youth academy of non-league club Foyle Harps at the age of 6, joined Derry City at 13, and made headlines at 15 by appearing on the substitutes' list for Derry City's match against St. Patrick's Athletic.

Since then, he has attracted constant attention from Celtic and Liverpool, even participating in a trial with the former.

In July 2022, Koné-Doherty joined Liverpool for £150,000 and completed his Liverpool first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in the FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle in February 2025.

During his three-and-a-half-year spell with the Reds, Koné-Doherty made 98 appearances for the reigning Premier League champions' U21s team in all competitions, scoring 34 goals and providing 12 assists, making him one of Liverpool's all-time top scorers in the UEFA Youth League.
