West Ham United striker Evan Ferguson will hope his stunning goal against Bulgaria in Ireland can kick-start a good season.
Evan Ferguson, who is on loan in east London from Brighton & Hove Albion, came on as a substitute in the final 14 minutes of the UEFA Nations League B/C play-off first leg at Rolfe, and put in a fine performance upon his return to the squad as Ireland beat their opponents.
It was a good international window for Evan Ferguson, who was handed his 20th cap in the game, and he will hope his first goal in four months will start a scoring streak that will help West Ham move higher up the Premier League table.
Evan Ferguson said: "It's good to score a goal, as is scoring for the national team. This is my job, scoring goals is my priority. I didn't catch the ball as cleanly as I would have liked, but I hope I might catch it next time."
"I feel good at the moment, mentally and physically, I feel positive. Every player wants to play, so when you have the opportunity, you have to take it."
"For various reasons, I haven't had as many minutes as I would have liked this season. However, my goal is to continue this form after the international break and end the season on a high."
Evan Ferguson and Tovey Parrott played together up front, sometimes dropping deeper. This eventually allowed him to score the important equaliser up the pitch, setting the stage for his team to take on the game.
Evan Ferguson said: "I think we showed our determination to turn things around, we are united and have a young team. The players are growing all the time, the more we play, the more space we have, and we will start to succeed."
"It was a great game and we accomplished our job. I think we played better, had better chances and deserved the win."
