Nottingham Forest officially announced that 37-year-old Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has returned as a free agent after six months. He will wear the No. 13 jersey and his contract will last until June 2025.
Regarding Wayne Hennessey's return, Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Santo said: "Wayne suffered a serious injury at the end of last season, which was a difficult test for everyone on the training ground. Now he has fully recovered and has become an important member of our team - especially in the close-knit team of the goalkeeper group."
"The contract has been signed and we are delighted to have him here. His knowledge, experience and work ethic are great assets for us," Nuno concluded.
Wayne Hennessey came from the Wolves youth training and made his professional debut on loan for Stockport on January 13, 2007. He returned to Wolves after the loan period expired and was promoted to the Premier League with the team from League One.
After leaving Wolves in January 2014, Hennessey played as a goalkeeper for Crystal Palace and Burnley. He made 183 appearances in the Premier League and joined Nottingham Forest in July 2022.
Due to the presence of Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas, Hennessey mainly played a substitute role in Nottingham Forest. As of July 2024, when his contract expired, he had played 9 times for Nottingham Forest and kept 3 clean sheets.
Hennessey also played 109 times for Wales, keeping 49 clean sheets. He participated in one World Cup (2022) and two European Championships (2016, 2020), playing seven times and keeping three clean sheets.
