Real Betis officially announced that the 24-year-old Brazilian winger Anthony has joined on loan from Manchester United. His loan period at Betis will last until the end of this season, and the deal does not contain any buyout clause.
According to TA, Sky Sports, Fabrizio Romano and other media, Betis will bear 84% of Anthony's salary during the loan period. Anthony's weekly salary is 200,000 pounds, which means Betis and Manchester United need to pay him 168,000 pounds and 32,000 pounds respectively.
As for the jersey number, Anthony decided to change No. 21 to No. 17.
Anthony came from the youth training of Sao Paulo and made his debut for the first team in the Brazilian league on November 15, 2018. He then gradually emerged under the guidance of Eric ten Hag and helped Ajax win 2 Eredivisie titles and 1 Dutch Cup.
In August 2022, Anthony moved from Ajax to Manchester United for a high price of 100 million euros. His performance at Manchester United was not as expected. So far, he has made 96 appearances and contributed only 12 goals and 5 assists.
After completing the signing, Anthony said: "The stadium is great and I am very happy to join Betis. Thank you everyone. I can't wait to put on the jersey and help the team."
He added: "My national team teammate Victor Roque wished me good luck on Instagram and offered to help. I am sure that with time I will integrate better into the team and give my all."
